The service concluded with a farewell from Helen Carr of Firmager Funeral Service, who arranges the event each year. Afterwards, the congregation enjoyed warm sausage rolls and mince pies served by the Firmager team.
The memorial tree has since been transferred to the branch, where it will remain throughout the Christmas season.
A collection was held in aid of Pilgrims Hospice, raising an impressive £931.66, a testament to the generosity of all who attended.
The annual Christmas Memories Service was held on Saturday 6th December at St Nicholas Church in New Romney. The service was attended by 180 people and included readings from local clergy and Celebrants. The memorial tree was given pride of place, and every member of the congregation completed a memorial tag to hang on the tree.
Once the service began, each person took a turn lighting a candle before the list of loved ones was read aloud. It was a deeply moving and emotional moment, with tears and comforting embraces shared throughout the church.
