Connecting the Community

Firmager Funeral Service were proud to support an event for Caring All Together on Romney Marsh (CARM) hosted by the Ashford Invicta Singers. The Firmager team purchased tickets for 20 elderly members of the community who are at risk of being socially isolated and provided a mini bus to get them there and back safely.

CARM is a local charity whose aim is to reduce loneliness and social isolation working across Romney Marsh, Tenterden and parts of rural Ashford.

CARM Manager Mary Stredwick sent a personal thank you email to the branch and said: ‘Thank you for making is possible for our clients in the Marshes, the concert brought so much joy to them, they talked about their evening out on the minibus journey home and enjoyed the chocolates too! ‘

The branch first became involved with CARM a few of years ago when Business Principal Wendy Alder arranged to sponsor a number of events in support of the charity.  Amongst the events they supported were a seated keep -fit session and a coffee morning with guest speaker to entertain the members.

Funeral arranger Helen Carr said: ‘I attended the coffee morning and met some of the members, some of whom I recognised from funerals we have arranged and some have since become who we would consider ‘Friends of Firmager’s  in that they regularly keep in touch with us as an integral part of the community.

Firmager Funeral Service has always supported good causes within their local community and was recently able to give the gift of reading by donating £100 to Dymchurch Primary School for their sponsored reading challenge. This has enabled the school to purchase new books for the pupils.
